Collegiate Summer Baseball
Welcome to the Joanna Hornets! With a proud history of textile mill baseball dating back to 1915, we have long represented the Joanna community and surrounding counties until the 1960s.
This summer, we are excited to return to the field as a collegiate summer league team in the Southern Shores Baseball League (Formerly SEBL), offering affordable baseball opportunities for local and regional players competing at the collegiate level.
Our iconic Joanna Stadium, built in the 1920s, is currently undergoing renovations and is set to become our home field once again in 2026. We are exploring the possibility of playing in 2025 with enough player interest, due to field availability games would be played at nearby Newberry High School.
Who's Eligible:
Roster spots are available to players born 2005 or before who appear on a Collegiate baseball roster.
Team Roster:
The Hornets will have a limited roster to maximize playing time for players. The official team roster is limited to 15 Position Players and 15 Pitchers.
It is our mission to prioritize Local players (45 minute radius) before adding players that may require housing. Host families are available on a case by case basis if needed.
Location:
Located just 45 minutes from Columbia, Greenville, and Spartanburg we offer the opportunity for players to live at home, work, and play baseball without the issue of finding a host family or spending money on housing. Our Home Field, Joanna Stadium - built in 1920 is currently undergoing renovations to be completed in 2026 but we will play our home games at nearby Newberry High School.
Games:
We will play approximately 30 games between Memorial Day and August 1st. Half of the games will be played at home and half will be on the road. As a member of the Southern Shores Baseball League we will play all league teams located within a 3 hour radius currently with teams in Greensboro NC, High Point NC, Fayetteville NC, Red Springs NC, and Augusta GA.
Cost:
Once you have been selected to the roster you will be sent a payment link to pay for your registration fees. This fee covers jerseys, hat, shirt, shorts, and secondary insurance.
Registration Fees:
Position Player: $600.00
Pitcher Only: $300.00
A deposit of 1/3 ($200 Player / $100 PO) is due to secure your roster spot. Installment options are available with the total balance due by 5/15/2025. Payments can be made at https://joanna-hornets.square.site/ starting April 1st, 2025. (Please make payments through the team page and not on the league website.)
